Scarce Victorian Volunteers Belt Buckle.
A solid white metal belt buckle bearing the royal lion over queen Victoria’s crown, with the motto ‘Diet Et Mon Droit’ around the outside. This is the Queens motto and means; ‘God and my right’ and was on all general service insignia. This buckle was worn by any of the volunteer regiments before the onset of the territorial force. It comes in good condition but has been well used, so there is some wear to the surface detail and high points of the buckle. It measures 4 inches wide.
