Pair WW2 Muzzle Pegs for Horse Gas Mask.

A large stock of these were left on Jersey, they are Nose pegs for a horse gas mask. These items went up the horses nose, one on each side, there was a filter attached to each one, these were made of paper and gauze, so disposable. They were strapped to the horses head or formed part of a larger canvas covering, which covered the whole head. But just the strap type only appears to be used on the island.
The last picture shows the full kit which as far as I can find out was used mainly on the eastern front.
This pair are in good order but have suffered some storage damage, found in the German tunnels poorly stored.
They each measure 7.25 inches long.
