Rare Boer War Royal Reserve Regiment Light Infantry Cap Badge.
The Royal Reserve Regiments were infantry and cavalry regiments formed for home defence during the Boer war and existence from 1900 to 1902.
Royal Reserve battalions were formed from veteran soldiers in the United Kingdom for Home Service and comprised of time-expired officers, non-commissioned officers and other ranks between the ages of 21 and 45 who would enlist for service in the United Kingdom for a period of one year and they received a bounty of £22.
This (originally) blackened badge was issued to NCO’s and other ranks of the light infantry brigade from 1901 to 1902 for the field service cap. It is in wonderful original condition, most of its original blacking has now gone but a rare badge used for just a short time.
