Edwardian John Jaques Snap Cards.
The original Snap game hand coloured playing cards by John Jaques.
These cards from Jaques & Son c.1910 edition with square corners. Designed by John Tenniel (1820-1914), had joined the staff of Punch magazine in 1851 and contributed over 2000 cartoons. He also illustrated numerous books. His fantastic characters on the fast-paced game of Snap have captured the imaginations of children for over a century. He was knighted by Queen Victoria in 1893.
This is a rare original set not a reprint, all cards have been hand coloured and come in very good condition. They come in the original box which is a bit scruffy.
