WW1 German Veterans Honour Cross with Swords – maker RV 21.
The Honour or Hindenburg Cross with crossed swords, issued only to combatants who fought during WW1.
The number of makers is unknown, but some estimate well over two hundred, many of which, no record survives.
This one is marked with R. V. Pforzheim 21. For the Reichsverband maker number 21. This was the national association of medal makers, they number from 1 to 91 and unfortunately no list of makers and their allocated numbers exists.
It is in excellent original condition, retaining all of its bronze finish and it comes on a small piece of original ribbon.
