Vintage Buckmaster Type Knife & Scabbard.

Vintage Buckmaster Type knife with a long Bowie type blade with saw back, both parts extremely sharp. Blade is marked ‘Stainless’. A cross guard with the two spikes, which is this knifes most distinguished feature; they should unscrew and fit into the pocket on the scabbard. It has quite a round grip which is tied with para cord, and a lanyard loop and pommel, which looks like it unscrews. It comes with its original leather scabbard
The legendary Buckmaster Model 184 took the knife world by storm in the 1980s. Built as a mission-critical tool for military use by the U.S. Navy SEALs in 1985. The spikes were an unusual invention, the thought was divers could tie a rope through the lanyard loop on the hilt, secure extra gear to the rope, then use the knife as an "anchor" in harbour rocks to secure items underwater and unseen.
This one is in very good condition and the knife measures 14 inches long.
