Order of the League of Mercy Medal.
A superb example of the Order of the League of Mercy medal on a woman’s bow. It is silver gilt and enamelled with an image of charity in the centre and with a hinged suspender. It was awarded for at least five years distinguished and unpaid personal service to the League in support of charity hospitals, or in the relief of suffering, poverty or distress. The Order ceased to be awarded after 1946, and the League itself closed in 1947. This one, beautiful quality probably dates from the first quarter of the 20th century, and it comes in near perfect condition.
