WW1 Medal Pair Etc to Dobney 23rd Londons.

WW1 British war and victory medal correctly named to 705558 Private Bernard Montague Dobney of the 3/23rd London regiment / 7th (23rd London) Battalion East Surrey Regiment.
Bernard was born in Stoke Newington on 31st August 1899. Before the war he was employed in the wood mill of a brush making factory
The 3rd/23rd battalion was a new battalion formed in 1916 and remained in Britain throughout the war, including time on coastal defence duties in Norfolk and Suffolk whilst based at Benacre Park near Wrentham, Suffolk in early summer 1918. However, Bernard was transferred to France in 1918 for the final stage of the war and he was discharged in November 1919. During the 2nd world war, he served with the home front ARP and Civil Defence.
His time serving in Suffolk must have been a happy one as he retired there later in life living in Lowestoft Suffolk.
He was to young to enlist early on but as soon as he was 18, he must have joined immediately, staying on well after the war.
Nevertheless, and interesting untouched lot, first time on the market, which includes his medal pair in box of issue, registered envelope, original cap badge and medal ribbon bar, defence medal with civil defence insignia, ARP badge and small photograph.
