American Civil War Socket Bayonet & Frog.

An 1855 US socket bayonet, the prominent Civil War-era weapon (1857–1865) designed for .58 calibre rifle-muskets. It features a 3-inch socket, a triangular 18-inch steel blade and a locking ring. Marked "US" and stamped with inspection mark at the top of the blade. It is in very good condition with small areas of pitting; however the blade is very clean. These were housed in a leather scabbard, which is now missing but it comes with its original black leather frog which are extremely hard to find. It measures 21 inches long.
