The WW2 medals of the 1939/45 Star, Defence and War medal with MID Oak Leafe awarded to 157701 Warrant Officer Joseph James Steele RAF. 1937 Coronation Medal with award certificate to Acting Sergeant Joseph James Steele RAF. Mentioned in dispatches certificate to Warrant Officer Joseph James Steele RAF. Published in the London gazette on 11th June 1942. Plus, photograph.
Joseph enlisted into the RAF on 8th December 1917 as a boy and served continuously through the inter war years and through the 2nd world war, where he served with distinction. He is also entitled to the British war medal and the RAF Long Service and Good Conduct medal, now sadly missing.
A very interesting lot ripe for research but comes with various research including RAF muster rolls confirmation of Coronation medal and MID etc.
