WW1 Era French M1892 Mk2 Mannlicher Berthier Bayonet & Frog.

Sword bayonet for the 8 mm. Mannlicher-Berthier M1890 rifle. This is the 2nd pattern, and I think most interesting type of this style. It has a steel pommel and cross piece with wooden grips used from around 1905. The hooked quillon has been cut down, this was done from 1915 and two notched ground into the top of the blade, so it could be fitted to the rifle quicker. It has proof numbers on the quillon 32412 with an ‘AD’ prefix. It has a smaller type of muzzle ring, so this a converted bayonet for used by French Infantry during the great war. It comes with its original scabbard with matching numbers and its original leather frog, which is a scarce bit of kit. In superb condition, apart from some light use and signs of age, no damage to report. It measures 20. 75 inches long.
