US 1887 Hospital Corps Knife

This Springfield Armory Model 1887 Hospital Corps Knife is etched "HOSPITAL CORPS/ U.S. ARMY." in a panel on the left side of the blade. The knife has a turned and grooved dark stained grip with plated brass cap and cross-guard. The knife is complete with a "Type 1" black leather scabbard with belt loop and brass throat. The inside of the belt loop is stamped "WATERVLIET/ARSENAL" in two lines.
In overall excellent condition with scratches on both sides of the blade caused from drawing the knife from the scabbard. Also, the blade has small areas of light staining in a couple of places. It measures 18 inches long.
