Superb Edwardian Sherwood Foresters Officers Home Service Helmet.
A helmet I have coveted for years is coming up for sale in the next few weeks, so it is with great reluctance I am offering this one for sale. It is an Edwardian blue cloth home service helmet worn by an officer of the Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment) between 1902 – 1914. I cannot fault this helmet in anyway; it is about as mint as you will find for a genuine helmet of this period. Most of the metalware still retains its gilt finish, apart from the velvet backed chin strap, which is a little worn and the brass is showing through. Inside you can see the liner has wear but all in excellent condition. No damage and no moth. A beautiful original helmet in a condition which is becoming really hard to find.
Please see the other helmets from my own collection I have for sale this week and help my helmet fund.
