A slightly smaller and lighter officers dress sword. This one the 1897 pattern Infantry officer’s sword the guard displaying king Edward VII’s cypher. It is on good all-round condition, the guard has some light pitting to the inside, the ray skin grip is in very good order but the blade is superb, near mint, etched with the royal cypher plus other decoration and it carries the retailers details of Samuel Brothers Ltd Outfitters 65 – 67 Ludgate Hill, London. On the other side it has the proof button and on the spine the issue number 1802 and ‘London Made’. The scabbard is in good, polished condition with some light pitting and staining in small areas. It measures 43.5 inches long.
