German Military Drum Hanger.

Gilt metal eagle with hooks and belt loop to hang a military snare drum from the belt. These were used by the Imperial German army through to WW2 so hard to date, but I would put this as a later example. In very good used condition with free and working swivel hinge. Instituted December 1916 by Kaiser Wilhelm II to Civilians and military personnel, regardless of rank or status, who served for at least one year in war-related organizations like the Red Cross, National Women's Service etc. this is a superb example, in excellent condition and on a short piece of original ribbon.  read more

WW1 German Red Cross Merit medal in Bronze. Instituted on 1st October 1898 by Wilhelm II. It had three classes and could be awarded to all those who carried out great service to the sick in peace or wartime, or for special achievement in the service of the German Red Cross. This is a very good example in excellent condition and with a dark chocolate tone, sorry no ribbon.  read more

An interesting family group of medals the first id a WW1 British war and victory medal correctly named to 595930 Private Frank Harold Harris of the 18th Battalion City of London Regiment, the London Irish.
The second is a WW2 Defence and 1945 war medal in named box of issue awarded to 77546 Pilot Officer Frank Thomas Harris RAFVR.

A single Victory medal correctly named to 16643 Private William Simmonds of the 1st Battalion the Essex Regiment.
William Simmonds was born in Ilford Essex 1881. In the 1911 census he is married to Nellie with two children. At this time, he was employed as a Farm labourer living at 9 Ward Road West Ilford.
