Large Roman bronze coin (Sestertius 33mm diameter) of Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, Roman emperor and the final emperor of the Julio-Claudian dynasty, reigning from CE 54 until his death in CE 68. During his reign, the Roman general Suetonius Paulinus quashed a major revolt in Britain led by queen Boudica.

During the 18th and early 19th century, before stamp collecting it would be a gentleman’s hobby to visit various towns, museums and castles and take impressions of their great seals, either using shellac or wax, the wax would then be taken to make a mould for a tintype, brass or bronze impression. Mid 20th Century Reliance Insurance Plate.

A embossed ‘Reliance Insurance’ plate or sign. A mid-20th century reissue of the 17th Century plates hung on buildings to show the firemen that the building has insurance and that they would get paid for fighting the fire. This one is made of printed tin in black and gold. Although it has a few minor scratches etc, it looks unused and measures 8.25 x 9.25 inches.  read more
