WW1 Medal Pair to Jones Cheshire Reg / Machine Gun Corps.
A very nice WW1 British war and victory medal pair correctly named to 15549 Private William Jones Cheshire Regiment. The medals come with copies of this mans medal index card and medal roll which shows he was later transferred to the machine gun corps with a change of number to 171617. He was discharged on 23rd October 1919 and put on the reserve list. He was obviously trained as a battalion machine gunner and was later transferred to the MGC when it became established as a regiment. And interesting pair for research and the only reason I haven’t gone any further with the research is the time it will take to go through the large amount of William Jones that served during the war. The medals themselves are in superb original condition.
