WW2 German Mine Sweepers Badge.

Instituted on 31 August 1940 by Grand Admiral Erich Raeder and first awarded on 28 November 1940 and awarded to the Kriegsmarine for service on minesweepers vessels.
The criteria for the award was, If the seaman had completed at least three operational sorties. Or wounded during an operational sortie. If the ship he was sailing in an operation was sunk due to enemy action. If participated in a specific sortie that proved very successful. If the seaman had shown exemplary, conduct in the execution of his duties over a six-month period. If completed an especially dangerous mission in a mined area. If served on escort duty for 25 days or more.
This badge comes in very good original condition but all of the gilt finish is missing leaving a very nicely patinated bronze badge. It has a wonderful broad pin on the back and the hinge and catch are in very good order and it doesn’t have any maker’s mark. Still a lovely example of this interesting Kriegsmarine badge.
